Covering approximately 3,800 acres, this protected area is home to a diverse range of ecosystems, making it a haven for nature enthusiasts.

The park features several well-maintained trails that vary in difficulty, catering to both novice and experienced hikers. The most popular trail leads you around the scenic Grand Etang Lake, which is nestled within a volcanic crater and provides an idyllic setting for birdwatching, as the area is home to numerous species, including the elusive Blue-headed Hummingbird. As you navigate the trails, you’ll encounter vibrant flora, including towering mahogany and nutmeg trees, as well as unique plant species found only in this region. The park is also rich in wildlife; keep an eye out for playful monkeys, colorful lizards, and various bird species, including the Grenada Dove, which is critically endangered. During the hike, there are also opportunities to explore hidden waterfalls, such as the stunning Seven Sisters Falls, which is ideal for a refreshing dip after a long trek.

Visit the House of Chocolate

If you’re a chocolate lover, a visit to the House of Chocolate in the vibrant capital of St. George’s, is an absolute must. Here, you can embark on a guided tour that reveals the island’s reputation as a leading cocoa producer. You’ll discover the fascinating journey of cocoa from bean to bar, with a focus on the prized Trinitario beans that give Grenadian chocolate its distinct flavour profile.

The House of Chocolate offers interactive exhibits and live demonstrations that immerse you in the chocolate-making process. You may even have the chance to create your own chocolate, experimenting with local flavours like nutmeg and cinnamon. To top off your visit, don’t forget to sample a wide variety of chocolates that are sure to tickle your tastebuds, from rich dark options to smooth milk varieties.

Snorkel at Molinere Underwater sculpture park

Located just off the western coast of Grenada, this unique underwater park features an incredible collection of sculptures that have been strategically submerged in the Caribbean Sea. Created by British sculptor Jason deCaires Taylor, the park was established in 2006 as a way to promote marine conservation while providing a captivating blend of art and nature.

As you snorkel or dive among these remarkable installations, you’ll find yourself surrounded by an extraordinary array of marine life. The sculptures, which range from life-sized human figures to abstract shapes and environmental themes, serve not only as artistic expressions but also as artificial reefs. Over time, they have become habitats for a diverse range of fish and other marine creatures, making this site a vibrant underwater ecosystem. You’ll likely encounter colourful tropical fish, sea turtles, and even the occasional stingray as you glide through the park.

The park is accessible to both novice snorkelers and experienced divers, with guided tours available to help you make the most of your visit. Many tours provide equipment and knowledgeable guides who can point out specific sculptures and share insights about the marine life you encounter.

Take a Catamaran cruise

Setting off on a catamaran cruise is one of the best ways to soak in the stunning beauty of Grenada’s coastline and its neighbouring islands. As you sail away, you’ll find yourself surrounded by the tranquil turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea, with breathtaking views of lush green hills and pristine beaches lining the shore. Some cruises offer a full day of adventure, taking you to popular snorkelling spots where you can dive into a vibrant underwater world. You’ll have the chance to explore colourful coral reefs and encounter a variety of marine life. Other tours allow you to swim in secluded coves and bays, away from the busier beaches.

Hike to the Seven Sisters Waterfall

For couples looking to add a sense of adventure to their trip, a hike to the Seven Sisters Waterfalls is a must. The trail itself is a mix of gentle inclines and rugged terrain, making it a rewarding journey for those who love the outdoors and are ready for a little challenge.

As you make your way through the dense greenery, you’ll be surrounded by the soothing sounds of chirping birds and flowing water, creating a peaceful atmosphere that feels worlds away from daily life. The journey also provides many secluded spots where you can stop, catch your breath, and share a quiet moment together.

Upon reaching the Seven Sisters Waterfalls, you’ll be greeted by a breathtaking view: a series of cascading falls, each flowing into crystal-clear pools below. The reward is well worth the trek, especially as you and your new spouse can take a refreshing dip in one of the cool pools, washing away the day’s heat.

Explore Grenada’s fascinating past

If you’re a history and culture enthusiast, Grenada offers many places that capture the island’s fascinating past. Start with Fort George in St. George’s, a striking 18th-century fortress built by the French. Standing above the capital, this fort has witnessed battles and the shaping of Grenada’s political landscape. Also, head to the Grenada National Museum. Housed in a former French barracks and prison from the 1700s, you’ll find exhibits showcasing artifacts from Grenada’s indigenous Carib and Arawak communities, along with pieces tracing the African slave trade and colonial era.

Finally, don’t miss Belmont Estate, a working plantation since the 17th century that captures Grenada’s agricultural roots. Here, you can tour the cocoa-making facilities, sample traditional dishes, and explore the lush plantation grounds. It’s a true taste of how Grenada became known as the “Spice Isle’.
